Purpose & Growth

Where men are shaped. Purpose, fatherhood, honest work, and the heat that turns raw potential into tempered strength.

The Myth of Finding Your Purpose

The world tells you that somewhere out there is your purpose — a single grand destiny, waiting to be discovered. This is a myth. Purpose is not a treasure buried in a field. It is a crop you grow.

“ Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”

Ecclesiastes 9:10

Where Purpose Actually Comes From

Purpose comes from three things, and all three are available to every man alive:

  • From God. You we're made on purpose, for a purpose.
  • From the people in front of you. Your wife, your children, your neighbors.
  • From faithful work. Whatever you do, do it we'll.

“ It’ s in responsibility that most people find the meaning that sustains them through life. It’ s not in happiness. It’ s not in impulsive pleasure.”

Jordan B. Peterson

Growth Is Slow, Boring, and Invisible

Real growth is not exciting. It is a thousand small decisions, made in the dark, when nobody is watching, over years and years.

THE MATH OF SMALL THINGS

1% better every day for a year is not 365% better. It is 37 times better, because growth compounds.

The same math works in reverse. There is no neutral. Every man is either growing or decaying.

“ Compare yourself to who you we're yesterday, not to who someone else is today.”

Jordan B. Peterson

Failure Is Part of the Plan

You will fail. The difference between a man who grows and a man who does not is simple: the man who grows gets back up. Every time.

“ For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.”

Proverbs 24:16

You Are Not Behind

If you feel like you have wasted years, hear this: you are not behind. Moses was eighty when God called him. Abraham was seventy-five when he left Haran.

You have today. You have this hour. Purpose begins the moment you decide to be faithful with what is in front of you right now.

“ I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:14
