Scripture in Practice

Build the bedrock. Truth, character, and the disciplines that hold a man upright when the ground shifts.

The Difference That Matters

There is a difference between knowing the Word and living it. One makes you informed. The other makes you free.

You can memorize every verse. None of that saves you. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what you do.

“ Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

James 1:22

“ Not everyone who says to me, ‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 7:21

Do This

Scripture in practice means when the Word tells you to forgive, you forgive. When it tells you to love your wife as Christ loved the church, you love her that way. When it tells you to train your children, you train them. When it tells you to give generously, you give generously. When it tells you to flee sexual immorality, you flee it.

Consistency Over Feeling

Feelings lie. If you wait to obey the Word until you feel like it, you will never obey it. Obedience is a decision, and then another, and then another.

“ Character is not formed in the moments of great trial. It is formed in the small daily choices that no one notices.”

Dennis Prager

When You Fail

You will fail. Every man does, every day. The question is what you do when you do.

A man formed by the Word takes it to God, confesses it, receives forgiveness, and gets up and starts again.

“ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.”

1 John 1:9
